OUR WOMEN’s FELLOWSHIP

The role of women in secular society has assumed important significance in recent times and this is reflected in the active participation of women in the church activities also. The talents of the women are being pressed into service for the benefit of the church’s ministry. The Women’s Fellowship of Wesley English Church has played a pivotal role under the leadership of various Presidents, always the spouse of the incumbent Presbyter of the church, in organizing prayer meetings, hospital visits, house visits, and care of the aged and destitute. The activity, ‘house visits’ has a multidimensional focus for it strengthened the longing for spiritual camaraderie and also relieved the needy of their problems by bringing in divine succor.

The Women’s Fellowship meets once a fortnight at Wesley Home for the Aged and at the Wesley Church. The meetings at the Wesley Home are mainly to share their warmth and friendship and to make them feel that they are part of our fellowship. We look forward to celebrate our Christmas party along with the friends at the Wesley Home. The Inter-Church Women’s fellowship is an inter- denominational unit with which we too are linked. Worship services are being held once a month in different churches by rotation. These meetings are well attended by our women, and we participate in all the activities of the Inter- Church Women’s Fellowship. Our women have also taken active part in KCD women’s fellowship and the Civil Area women’s fellowship.

This year on Women’s Sunday, the women of our church were enrolled and dedicated as members of the Women’s Fellowship of Wesley Church as well as the members of Karnataka Central Diocese by Rev. Mrs. Florence Deenadayalan. The Women’s Fellowship proved its mettle in the financial arena also. To augment the financial strength of the church, the WF members organize delicious breakfast sale after the church service. These sales are patronized by the young and the old. The Harvest Festival is another great day where the Women’s Fellowship takes charge of the food stalls. This is warmly appreciated by one and all as it provides an opportunity for interaction among families and also enables the economically generous to share their riches for the benefit of the church.

The Women’s Fellowship is immensely proud of the fact that the church is now shepherded by a woman Pastor, and that there is a new oneness of feeling not witnessed earlier, all working out for the ultimate good of the congregation. In short, it can be said that the summary of this year’s profile is a prelude to what is in store in the coming year.
