It is strange how one’s childhood memories are etched in the mind. They seem so distant in the past and yet so fresh and alive. My memories of my childhood are in one of the most beautiful, peaceful and quaint localities of Bangalore - Cleveland Town, Fraser Town, Richards Town. In this small geographical area stand four Christian Churches belonging to different denominations. Each has its own architecture and its own history with a unique story to tell...
A quaint little building (in comparison to the others) is the Wesley Memorial Church. Located at a busy intersection, one would easily miss it. However as quiet as it stands almost unobtrusively, this remarkable Church has continued it’s mission of ministering to the faithful down the decades. As a young boy cycling on Promenade Road every day, little did I know what God had in store for me. It was God’s plan that the girl I would marry would be one who was confirmed in the Christian faith in the Wesley Memorial Church. Had I known this, maybe I would have been a regular at Wesley!
As Christians we are blessed with an unmatchable heritage - Jesus himself. In Him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). As the Truth has lived on through generations, this is a legacy we all must treasure - the legacy of Christ. Our lives being a showcase of God’s goodness and grace; the church - His body is truly a display of His splendor. As you celebrate this landmark anniversary as a church, we celebrate with you. We celebrate the legacy that was and will continue... a legacy for eternity. We celebrate ‘the Author and Perfector of our faith.’ (Hebrews 12:2)
My good wishes and prayers for the continued growth and ministry of this wonderful church.
